京剧音乐属皮黄系统而又吸收并融合昆曲、梆子等声腔的音乐因素。
由唱腔、打击乐、曲牌三个部分组成。
唱腔以板腔体的西皮、二黄为主。西皮是一种比较明快、活泼的曲调，长于抒情、叙事、说理、状物。
板式有原板、慢板、快三眼、导板、回龙、散板、摇板、二六、流水、快板。
另有反西皮，是京剧传统唱腔中出现较晚的唱腔，板式仅二六、散板、摇板。
二黄是一种较舒缓、深沉的曲调，适合表现忧郁、哀伤的情绪。多用于悲剧性的剧情中。
