台湾当代传奇剧场，于1986年成立，由吴兴国领军，一直致力于传统戏曲传承并以创新剧场表演艺术为标的。以融合东西方剧场艺术、开辟传统戏曲新道路为精神与特色。

在电影《青蛇》中饰演许仙的吴兴国是当代传奇剧场的灵魂人物，他曾加入云门舞集，开启对当代表演艺术的初步探索；后拜台湾四大老生之一周正荣先生为师，改唱文、武老生。

当代传奇剧场融合了戏剧和当台舞台剧形式的经典作品有：《欲望城国》（根据《麦克白》改编）、《李尔在此》（根据《李尔王》改编）、《水浒108》、《霸王别姬》
